A Work in Progress

I never really thought of myself as having much potential.  It was just the way I grew up.  I was a slacker, I lived in Santee, and I had loser friends.  I actually remember a teacher telling me once I shouldn’t hang out with the people I did because they were going to bring me down.  Fortunately, I didn’t listen to him, and those friends ended up saving my life, and planting a little seed of curiousity that would one day germinate into faith.  I’m so grateful for that.

Now, I have to come to terms with the fact that not only does God have a plan for my life, but he wants to use me.  And I find myself now in a role I am only beginning to come to terms with–sharing His word with others.  So I’m learning how to do that a little better, and step out of my comfort zone, which is not something I like doing much.  But God, fortunately, is the stretcher of boundaries.  And the lifter of heads, for that matter.

So in addition to my wanton soapboxing, I have a small group of friends that I love like family, and I spend all the time I can with them.  And about two months ago, I met a woman that has changed my life, and introduced me to a healing I never expected to get.   She’s helping to heal my heart, and has been an incredible blessing to my life.

I love my church, and the Healing Prayer ministry I’m somehow allowed to take part in.  I get to watch Jesus do amazing things in people’s lives.  In my life.  It’s awesome.

But I still have my vices, of course.  I have a Tivo, and it, too, has changed my life dramatically.  I can now couch to my heart’s content.  With Tivo, came a plethora of new and wonderful things–first and foremost, the “season pass.” And with it, I give you :NCIS. Top Chef.  Chuck.  The Sarah Connor Chronicles.   I could go on, and maybe I will, but not today.

I like to get out of the house a little.  Food is good.  I eat it every chance I get.  I like to cook as well, and I enjoy making my friends sample my creations (not all of which are necessarily palatable).  In addition to my hardcore TV habit, I also read a great deal, pretty much any genre that catches my interest.  Most recently, I read Jodi Picoult’s Change of Heart. Before that, Duma Key, by Stephen King.

I enjoy all types of movies. But if I had to picka  particular genre, I could paradoxically narrow it down to two: Action Movies, and “Chick” movies.  I like to get all mushy every now and again, and usually chase the tears with some blood and guts.

Now I’m even lulling myself  to sleep, so that’s probably enough for now.

What’s that you say?  Do I have pets?  I do.  I have a small, insanely hungry (and possibly bisexual) dog named Sumo.  Also a cranky old female cat named Joey.  I will never tell you where her name came from.

And now, adieu…
